I must say that even this early into Round 2, I’m really feeling good about everything. Still, with a new round of voting comes a new round of Judges comments. I feel a bit compelled to respond to them:

Your UI mock-ups look OK cosmetically (although I find it fascinating that so many people already want to rip off the iTunes 7 look-and-feel) but they don’t convey how the app actually works. You need to simplify, simplify, simplify — the UI shouldn’t just look pretty, it should make it clear what the user is supposed to do.
Let me pause this right here. Sure I borrowed a bit of the look and feel of iTunes 7, because I thought blue glass sliders might look a bit out of place. Personal preference. And remember, I’m no GUI designer, I’m just one guy. I’m coming up with a lot of the features for the idea and trying to see how I’d like to interact with them. That makes me kind of biased as a designer. I would love it if someone else came up with an alternative layout, or even just offered some sound advice. Until that happens I can only do what I see as correct. And not to be too blunt, but “simplify, simplify, simplify” isn’t the most specific criticism. Perhaps you’re recommending merging the three panels (Macs, Items, and Animations) into one. Maybe the Sync button should be bigger. I’m not sure, so lets continue…
