Okay, I finally got some time to PhotoShop up another mockup… starting from scratch, with new and improved cocoa flavor!
Without further ado:
THIS IS WHERE YOU HAVE TO GO INSIDE TO TAKE A PEEK.
From looking at it, it’s pretty straight-forward and hopefully intuitive.
- We have the left hand column for seeing all your added forums. It shows you how many unread posts there are at a glance. Click on any forum, and the sub-forums will slide down from beneath. This will also update the:
- Topic Panel. Here is listed all the opening topics, giving you the various stats and unread replies within each. Click on the unread replies button (with the number in it) and it’ll take you right to that post.
- In the Posts view (which can be manually adjusted up and down like in iTunes and Mail), you can see which users you’ve selected as friends, because they’re surrounded in green (as opposed to grey, and yes, Phill’s now my friend… right, Phill?!). The little green light also informs you they’re online. And if you click the light, it’ll bring up a chat window by default.
The Post view also has a “play” feature, that will dim your monitor in a slideshow fashion, and bring up 3 or 4 posts at a time, that can be enlarged and elegantly scrolled. This makes it easier on the eyes, and can be controlled using the arrow keys as well. Since this will allow Hijack more screen real estate, you can also post all the user stats side-by-side their post, and get a greater overview.
Next I’ll drill down into some of the other features which are hidden from this view… like the aforementioned “play” view, the New Post mode, and user info, et al.
