iVlog
One app that combines video journaling with direct uploading to your preferred hosting site; that’s it.
iMovie is an amateur filmmaking tool. iVeZeen and Podesk do video capture and podcasting. None of these apps do offline video journaling or direct uploading to free hosts. This is a simple idea and inexpensive to make, especially with Core Animation and Core Video on the Mac. Why doesn’t it exist yet? Perhaps it’s because this idea confronts a deep philosophical challenge.
Personal journaling and vlogging in one app bridge the growth of private knowledge of one’s self with expressing one’s self to the world. Self-knowledge and self-expression should naturally go together, but in ordinary human life, it is quite difficult. This little app makes it natural, resolving our simultaneous individuality and community, without turning us into Borg.
The video revolution has already begun. Elegant “captain’s log”-style video logs can be made. Built-in iSights are available and OS X was made for this. All that’s needed now are votes.
