I know these aren’t quite the eye candy that everyone is expecting this round — don’t worry, the good stuff is coming — but I do need to get these out for feedback.
I have attempted to put together some rough concepts of the prefs. Mainly to let people get a feel of how flexible Ground Control is and how it will be adaptable to multiple working styles.
Please don’t get too caught up in the layouts and graphics at this point. I am hoping for a much more streamlined and much better thought out final look once the dev team takes over, but, you gotta start somewhere. I think that there is enough here to take a look and get some dirt under your fingernails.
Note: there are a few things missing that I would really want for the initial release but didn’t have time to work them in here. The biggest is to be able to take advatage of Apple’s upcoming Spaces and have the ability to have multiple GC Setups. It will probably need to include another panel, but I’m going to wait doing anything more on the prefs and get back to working on the real eye candy.

On this view, I envision that whenever you choose one of the radio buttons, it will change the preview to reflect how the setup will look on screen. I was thinking of adding a “Preview” button that would apply it to the actual whole screen while your adjusting. This is where I hope those that are arguing over the “I love the Dock” or “I hate the Dock” will come together in harmonious bliss.

I kind of wimped out on showing off skins in this one–based on some feedback, I’m trying to show a more simplified choice, but the option to customize will still be there. This is a panel that will be heavily overhauled as I get more feedback. Also, I ran out of time, but I wanted to put a control element style selector underneath the module graphic. You would be able to side-scroll through previews of different grabber, arrow, button styles and choose your look, which would then update the graphic to reflect the choice.

This is showing how each module will have it’s own preference pane to be able to customize to the extent of the module’s features and parameters.
That’s all for now. Look for new posts later Sunday on “Vista Schmista” and one on “Third Party Modules”. And then, look for some real eye candy ;) Deo Valenti!
