When I got the call I was very confused as I had just gotten off the phone with a customer and was still thinking about their call. I thought who’s this random guy calling my cell phone at work? And my cell phone reception was very bad so it sounded like “Hi this is Phill from my sdfjksdjfosdf app.” When he explained that my entry was chosen I was still trying to figure out who it was and then when I finally got it, it was too late for me to react without seeming uncool and really disturbing my office mates. Suffice it to say, for our generation, we can type ROFL without actually doing it, so I could still enjoy the excitement of the call without actually jumping around at my cube.
Although my idea has to do with clothing and fashion, I don’t involve myself in much of either. In fact, I don’t spend much on clothing period. You would think that someone who has traveled all over would care, but I think that is exactly why I don’t. Traveling with less clothing is easier, and if you buy “neutral” clothing, you’ll fit in anywhere with any culture and any age. However, being female, I still have tons of clothes in my closet. I do accumulate years of clothing from siblings, friends and family all in one closet and seeing as I am very indecisive and like to sleep in as much as I can in the mornings… I thought of how wonderfully lazy it could be to have an app like iStyleIt. Four years of engineering at a university teaches you to be creatively lazy. That is what engineers do right? Shift productivity over to the machine so that the user can use it to be productive for something else they want to do (like sleep in). The morning I submitted my idea was just like most other mornings, late to my co-worker’s house for carpooling because I was trying to pick clothes to wear that don’t make me look as lazy as I really feel. Luckily, my boyfriend had told me about MyDreamApp a few days earlier and there was born the idea of iStyleIt.
Aside from all of that clothing talk. I am extremely honored to have my entry chosen! I never really thought it would get chosen… THANK YOU DREAM APP FOLKS! I guess the lesson of the day is, put your thoughts out there and who knows what might happen!
