So, after a couple of weeks of going through all 2700+ submissions, we finally have our choices wrapped-up.
At this point we have two days of announcing finalists left and we’re now prepping everything for the big start of voting next week. David Lanham came up with a great design for the voting system and Scott Meinzer’s working hard to get it all coded-up (with lotsa dynamic niftiness).
We have an all-star lineup of guest judges set to go for the first round. The first round will have all Mac developers as judges with later ones having Mac designers, media, bloggers, and a round with some big Apple alumni names (Woz anyone?). Here’s the killer lineup for round 1:
- Wil Shipley (Delicious Library)
- Nicholas Jitkoff (Quicksilver)
- David Watanabe (Acquisition, NewsFire)
- Allan Odgaard (TextMate)
- Cabel Sasser (Panic)
- Brent Simmons (NetNewsWire)
- Ken Case (OmniGroup)
- Gus Mueller (VoodooPad)
It’s been a wild ride so far and we’re only a few weeks into this. We’ve had some bumps along the way, but overall everything’s going much better than hoped for and expected. And we have a bunch of nice surprises coming-up… ;)
Our concern for whether or not we’d get quality entries has passed as we definitely have plenty of gems in the mix. I know it’s hard to please everyone and I’m sure people will think that some of the finalists are crap, but I’m sure that just about everyone will be able to find something they like in the batch.
So far, so good.
