The idea and the mockup are interesting, but some of the proposed feature set might be difficult to do well. In particular, it would be challenging to adjust the font or size of arbitrary input (lots of existing text doesn’t reformat well), and for the text-to-speech feature it might be difficult to determine which text is meant to be read.

Generating notes by whistling would be awfully cool, and there are sure a lot of things you could do with those notes once you have them. For a 1.0 release, I’d recommend figuring out one particular thing that you want to do with those notes and focusing on making that particular solution work well.

I love the idea of a really great native interface to a bulletin board, though I am concerned about the feasibility of trying to parse through the variety of board layouts out there. (Even when they’re powered by the same engine, they tend to have a lot of different themes. But perhaps many of those themes share common style names, in which case perhaps it’s a lot easier than it would have been pre-CSS.)

If you haven’t seen the mockups for Cookbook yet, go check it out now. No, really. Go ahead and do that now. I’ll wait.
It presents an attractive interface to all your recipes; it assists with the process of preparing them (with its timers and voice input); it understands that recipes evolve over time and makes it easy to share recipes with others; and it even helps with planning and ordering (with its grocery lists and calendar).
The concept has been very well spec’d out, which will make it much easier to implement.

I’m not sure how (or even whether) I would use this in practice, but the more input mechanisms the better.
