Semifinals Begin Tomorrow

Believe it or not, but the semifinals are coming up tomorrow! This round (beginning Wednesday, October 11th) will be determining which 6 contestants make it to the final round (out of 9), and to help you with your voting decisions, 8 prominent members of the Mac and tech media will be providing judge opinions:

David Pogue: Best-selling author, technology columnist for the New York Times, and Emmy-winning tech correspondent for CBS News.

Kevin Rose: Former co-host of TechTV’s The Screen Savers and co-founder of popular Web 2.0 news site Digg and its podcast, Diggnation.

Leo Laporte: Former co-host of TechTV’s The Screen Savers, and founder of “TWiT.TV”, the #1 tech podcast network. Recipient of the “Person of the Year in Podcasting” award at the 2006 Podcast and Portable Media Expo.

Jim Dalrymple: News director at Macworld.com.

Peter Cohen: Senior editor at Macworld magazine and Macworld.com.

Jason Snell: Vice president and editorial director at Macworld magazine and Macworld.com.

Rik Myslewski: Editor in Chief of MacAddict Magazine.

Shawn King: Host and Executive Producer of the most popular Mac internet broadcast, Your Mac Life.

And, of course, the weekly freebie. The awesome guys at the Potion Factory (also creators of the widely-used podcasting tool, Podcast Maker) will be providing free copies of their amazing voice recording utility, Voice Candy, for all voters this round. If you haven’t tried this app before, I encourage you to check it out. It’s really very fun, and I think a fine example of the polish that will be going into the MDA winners when development begins.
