The final round of voting will begin Monday morning, and it’s gonna be the biggest, baddest round of My Dream App voting you’ve ever witnessed!

Overflow IconTwo things to announce today. First are the software giveaways. In addition to the Insanely Great Tees coupons I announced before as part of the package, we have the sleek launcher, Overflow, for all voters. And that’s not all. We’ll be announcing a SECOND software freebie soon, and it’s an Apple Design Award recipient!

Second, we’ll be switching up some things for the finals with the voting system. Frankly, we’re looking for a bit more excitement and anticipation this time around. What does that mean? Well, we’ll give some more details soon. But we’re hoping this will make things a bit more fun. ;)

Prize Updates

As we approach the final round, I’ve got some good news for contestants. More prizes! In addition to the prizes we have listed here, we’ll be giving out…

New Prizes!Insanely Great Tees for all contestants and guest judges. My friend and previous guest judge Josh Keay has been working on a new Mac-centric tshirt shop that you can visit here, and all 24 contestants and guest judges will get their choice of a cool Mac tshirt for free. (Plus, we’ll be giving some serious discounts to all voters in the final round.)

6 copies of Microsoft Office 2004 to Cameron, Michael, Kevin, Richard, Farzad and Dan. Why? Well, you’ll see soon.

And last, but definitely not least, the three winners and their ideas will be profiled in a Macworld Magazine’s Mac Beat section in an upcoming article about My Dream App, courtesy of the fine folks at Macworld. (Special thanks to editors Jason Snell and Jim Dalrymple for hooking this up!)

The Semifinals Are Over!

6500 people sent in their votes this round, and Ground Control, iGTD, and Desktop Wars ended up getting the axe. Congratulations to Russell, Jeff and Andrew respectively for making it this far, and expect an email soon asking for iPod video color choice!

The big surprise of the round? Hijack and Cookbook found their stable lead taken from under their feet by the underdog, and Atmosphere emerged early on at top, keeping its spot throughout the round. By the end, Atmosphere ended up grabbing a vote from nearly 50% of voters. This coup wasn’t without some controversy, but apparently some strong Digg momentum from last week plus brand new mockups went pretty far for Cameron.

Will Atmosphere, Hijack and Cookbook hold on to their top spots through next week’s final round and emerge as winners? Or will Blossom, Whistler and Portal scratch their way up to a top three spot? We’ll see next week!
