My Dream App Announces Guest Judge Competition for Bloggers

BOSTON, Massachusetts - My Dream App (http://mydreamapp.com), a competition in which contestants compete for the chance to have their software ideas turned into real Mac OS X applications, announced a chance for bloggers to guest judge during an elimination round alongside other high-profile bloggers today.

Since launching three weeks ago, My Dream App (http://mydreamapp.com) has drawn over 2,700 idea submissions and over 650,000 visitors. My Dream App enables Mac users without programming skills to have their software ideas turned into killer apps while also enabling software lovers all over the world to decide which finalists make the cut.

Winners of the blogger guest judge competition will offer opinions on finalists during the second week of voting along with influential bloggers John Gruber of Daring Fireball, The Unofficial Apple Weblog’s Scott McNulty, John Siracusa of Ars Technica, 43 Folder’s Merlin Mann, and Kottke’org’s Jason Kottke. One guest judge spot is offered for the author of the best blog entry, one for the blogger that brings in the most traffic, and one spot will go to a blogger entrant selected at random.

“Great software is developed with the user in mind. My Dream App lets the users themselves into all the fun. Software thought up by everyday Mac users and developed by some of the best Mac programmers out there? What’s not to like?”, said Scott McNulty, lead blogger at The Unofficial Apple Weblog (tuaw.com).

My Dream App creator Phill Ryu has assembled an all-star guest judge team for the five weeks of eliminations, including Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak, Digg.com founder Kevin Rose, and New York Times tech columnist David Pogue. When the contest is over, three teams of veteran developers and designers will develop the winning ideas into full-blown OS X apps.

My Dream App has announced twelve finalists so far and the remaining twelve will be announced the rest of this week (three per day). The deadline for this guest judge competition is Sept. 16 at 12 noon (EDT). The first elimination round will begin on Sept. 18.
